Sallang = pronounced: shal-long

This type of  Sallang is hand-braided .The braided leather-Sallang is the most original and the most Hungarian Harness Decoration.The original function was to protect the horses from flies. These were developed also with the harnesses to become more decorative and articulate after several hundred years.

Since the 18th century Hungary possessed such a history of Sallang, that it is not to be found elsewhere in the world.

 The Sallang should match in color the harness as a whole....It is decorated with special brass hardware: buckles, rosettes, stars...It is completely handmade - without using any machinery ...

A very few of us have continued the Hungarian Tradition of this Fine Art.
